SCS Global Services

The First to Achieve SCS Recycled Content Certification

Bayferrox® Iron Oxide Pigments produced in Germany and Brazil have earned Recycled Content Certification from SCS Global Services (SCS). The company formally known as Scientific Certification Systems, Inc., based in California, is a neutral, trusted leader in third-party environmental, sustainability and food quality certification, auditing, testing and standards development.

Using Bayferrox® pigments with the SCS certification for coloring concrete or other materials used in buildings will allow the architect to factor in the pigments when calculating points on LEED rating scales. LANXESS pigments will contribute to the overall percentage of recycled content a building can have. This can assist in gaining any level of LEED certification as well as other green building initiative credits.

SCS Global Services tested Bayferrox® Iron Oxide Pigments and found that multiple iron oxides have high percentages of recycled content, thus conserving natural resources.  One example of a recycled material used in the production of iron oxides is cast iron borings from the automotive industry.
