Special top-quality yellow pigments from LANXESS offer our customers a significant added value when it comes to processability.

The majority of LANXESS inorganic yellow pigments are produced using the Penniman or precipitation process at the company’s sites in Krefeld-Uerdingen (Germany) and Porto Feliz (Brazil). Yellow iron oxide pigments normally have a needle-shaped particle structure. In addition they show lower heat stability than red pigments, for example.

LANXESS has succeeded in overcoming these standard properties and developed a range of top-quality yellow pigments that deliver significant added value when it comes to processability. They include products such as Colortherm® Yellow 10 and Colortherm® Yellow 20, which are treated to considerably enhance their heat stability, or Colortherm® Yellow 30 and Colortherm® Yellow 3950, both zinc ferrites that also benefit from comparatively high heat stability.

A further example for special product development is Bayferrox® 915, a low silking pigment for the paint and coatings industry. Unlike conventional needle-shaped iron oxide yellow pigments, it has a virtually spherical particle structure. This minimizes the impact of the direction of brush strokes when applying paint or coatings and also reduces system viscosity.

Also the Bayferrox® 943 has unique properties. This reddish iron oxide yellow pigment has another crystal modification (known as gamma modification), which produces a distinctive orangey hue. The short-needled structure of Bayferrox® 943 also gives it beneficial low-viscosity properties.

LANXESS yellow pigments range from a pale greenish cast to an intense orangey shade.
